THE MISSION OF STEADFAST VARIATION
What does the name Steadfast Variation mean? The seemingly contradictory statement is packed full of too much meaning for a single definition, and it's even hard to scratch the surface—But, I made it up, so I'll try and do my best...
The universe is split between order and chaos, right? Energy and entropy. And for the sake of this "definition" let's consider the waves of the ocean to be chaos, and their origin order. The moon orbits on a strict, relatively unchanging path, exuding much needed order. It's so orderly in fact, that mankind based his calendars on it. But, sometimes when the waves wax and wane, the oceans grow violent! Very orderly things can result in very violent things... Very much in a non-contradictory way. It's the same with all of nature, and meaningful expositions such as this too. It's our job to tread the narrow path between chaos and order, looking both ways... learning lessons from each and our from place between them, and remaining Steadfast in our moral obligations and desires upon this earth—no matter what Variations come along.
Because of its meaning, and because it sounds so cool, I picked that as the title to my published work.
But, why do we publish our work?

The core reason is this: To educate people in the art of finding adventure. I know the call of people's hearts, specifically young men, is to find adventure in life - to claim land, to kill the beasts surrounding them, to find a woman - whether they know it or not. The default mindset for so many of my generation is that life is inherently meaningless. They are wrong. They have also never been told otherwise. I am here to, hopefully, tell them otherwise.

It is my belief that it takes intelligence to know what you want, and training to be able to enact it. It is my hope that my work will bring this rising generation a step closer to the adventure that enacting their deepest desires can become.

So, I will close by asking you this. Will you join the SV team of writers and editors as they attempt to teach the up and coming generations how to find meaningful adventure and synchronicity within their lives? If not join our team, will you spread the word of SV?

JM BABB - WHAT I'VE DONE
The first organization I was a part of was Boy Scouts of America. After my first year of Scouting, I decided to transfer to Trail Life USA, where their focus on Christian ethics was more important, to me, than learning the most knots or starting the best fires. I became First Officer of my troop and decided to pursue Trail Life's Freedom Award, which I received in early 2020 for building a footbridge at a local arboretum named Reflection Riding. I graduated high-school that May and have since been working towards an associate's degree in business entrepreneurship in hopes to start my own business. During this time of my life, I have held down a job at Chick-Fil-A for over two years, and a job at Publix for almost five months — places in which I have met most of my closest of friends.

So about those Boyscout knots... I do believe the best knots are important and I also believe that the best fires are generally the most effective fires, but then again if there's no truth or purpose being taught about those things.... why should anyone want to do it? Why learn a skill without being taught how to meaningfully apply it? At this point in my life, my purpose is to teach what that meaning in the mundane is, to find the joy and wisdom in it, and apply that information to my future pursuits. I'd like to start a business around those principles one day too—thus the business degree. Who knows, maybe Steadfast Variation will turn into that business.
